# Scoring

> RFFL offensive, kicking, and defense/special teams scoring authority.

Scoring rules are defined in the Operations Manual and interpreted through official rulings when questions arise.

## Source Structure

| Area                            | Source section                  |

| Defense / special teams         | Operations Manual Section 7.4   |
| Return touchdown interpretation | Return TD double-scoring ruling |

## Return Touchdowns

Return touchdowns are validly scored for both:

| Recipient           | Points source               |
| ------------------- | --------------------------- |
| Individual returner | Offensive return TD scoring |
| Team D/ST           | D/ST touchdown scoring      |

The 2025 ruling confirms this is working as designed and does not require a rule change.

## Answering Guidance

Use the Operations Manual for scoring categories. Use the 2025 return TD ruling when the question is about double scoring, exploitability, or whether a rule change is required.
