# League Structure

> RFFL team count, schedule eras, division structure, and season format.

RFFL is a long-running redraft league founded in 2002. The current structure is a 12-team league with four divisions and a 14-week regular season.

## Structure Timeline

| Years        | Teams | Regular season | Playoffs    | Notes                                           |

| 2002-2006    | 10    | Weeks 1-13     | Weeks 14-16 | Founding 10-team period                         |
| 2007-2020    | 12    | Weeks 1-13     | Weeks 14-16 | 12-team structure before NFL schedule expansion |
| 2021-present | 12    | Weeks 1-14     | Weeks 15-17 | Current 14-week regular season format           |

## Division Structure

| Period       | Divisions      | Treatment                         |
| ------------ | -------------- | --------------------------------- |
| 2002-2009    | AA and BB      | Two-division historical structure |
| 2010-present | AA, BB, CC, DD | Four-division structure           |

Current reports should use canonical division names. Historical reports should display the name for that season's era.

## Draft Slot To Division Mapping

| Division | Draft slots |
| -------- | ----------- |
| AA       | 1, 2, 3     |
| BB       | 4, 5, 6     |
| CC       | 7, 8, 9     |
| DD       | 10, 11, 12  |

Division placement is a consequence of draft slot selection. Do not treat it as a separate post-draft administrative choice.
