# Prize Categories

> RFFL payout categories and how to interpret finance fields.

Prize categories describe how season money is allocated. The finance source tracks amounts by year.

## Category Families

| Category family | Examples                                                        |
| --------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Regular season  | division winners, top seeds, biggest crank                      |
| Playoffs        | Alpha Bowl champion, runner-up, third place, Beta Bowl champion |
| KORM            | KORM first, second, and third place                             |

## Current Model

For recent seasons, the source model separates playoff payouts, regular season awards, and KORM payouts. The 2025 season page is the validated worked example.

## Source Boundary

Use the finance CSV for category amounts. Use validated season pages to connect those category amounts to teams.
